Pay Equity Act

Section 4(1) of the Pay Equity Act requires employers to provide equal pay for work of equal value, based on a practice model of compliance.

The purpose of the Pay Equity Act is to “redress systemic gender discrimination in compensation” for work that is predominantly performed by women.  It applies to all private sector employers with ten or more employees in Ontario and all public sector employers.
